Call for Photography

Submit  your photos for the Re-launch of Vermont.org + Experience Burlington 2013

A completely new VERMONT.ORG is launching in April (see above for a sneak peek). Currently, we receive over 35,000 unique visitors a month and with our re-design we expect to greatly increase traffic to the site. VERMONT.ORG will become a destination for tourists and locals looking for information on visiting the region, local services and businesses, events, things to do, and much more! The website will rely heavily on high quality imagery and videos coupled with strong design and colorful copy.

EXPERIENCE BURLINGTON, our annual tourism publication, is also receiving new attention and energy – with an updated approach and aesthetic.  We are looking for photography that can be coupled with the list of story topics below.  While we are unable to compensate for photography submitted for Experience Burlington, we always note photo credits when published.  100,000 copies are published and the publication is available online and used by countless concierges through throughout the region.

There is a small budget for VERMONT.ORG photography. We believe the exposure that comes from having a photo on the new site with a credit line will outweigh the monetary compensation we could offer for you.

*** UPDATE: Please note that only photos at a certain size on VERMONT.ORG will have in-photo credit lines. Photos that are smaller will just be included on the “Photography Credits” page.***

DEADLINES:

For possible inclusion in VERMONT.ORG’s April launch, photos need to be submitted by March 15 at the latest. Experience Burlington 2013 photos need to be submitted by February 20 at the latest.

Preference will be given to photos submitted ASAP or before February 15, but submission will be rolling.

NEEDED PHOTOS/SUBJECTS:

For print publication, EXPERIENCE BURLINGTON 2013 – we are looking for general shots of the region, local businesses, attractions, events, and anything that screams “VERMONT!” All photos must be at minimum 300 dpi.

The following editorial topics will need photos to help tell the story… Vermont’s great in every season, History in the Burlington Region, Day trips from Burlington  (i.e. Visit the Islands, Shelburne, Middlebury, Mad River Valley), a place for everyone! – No matter who you’re travelling with – significant other, family, ladies’ trip, college visit, Burlington on a Budget, See it Made – local artisan culture, Vermont-made products, Friendliness and character of Vermonters – Residents helping tourists find the best experience by making personal recommendations, Moving to Burlington – “Make your Move”, Burlington – Healthy, Active, Outdoor activities, Nightlife and Music scene, The Lake, Agrotourism, Farm to Table, Quality of food, Localvore, and more!

For VERMONT.ORG –our needs are extensive covering all facets of our region’s offerings for locals and tourists alike, but for the following areas of the website, these photos will  we need large banner photos for all of the following pages of the site:

–          Homepage banners  (W 1368px x 580px) – Welcome to our region, Find a local Business, Upcoming Events, and Make Your Move

–          Visitors homepage, Locals Homepage, Relocation landing page, Additional Resources for Locals and Relocators landing pages (W 1368px by H 380 px)

–          Content pages (W 692px x H 450px) – Here are a just a sampling of the pages photos are needed for: Why visit our region, where to stay, what to do, restaurants and Nightlife, Shopping, Tour Operators, Get the Most out of our Region, Why Vermont?, Experience the Lake Champlain Islands, Experience Burlington, Experience the Mad River Valley, Romantic Trip, Family Trip, Girls vs. Man Trip to Vermont, Wine/Breweries, Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring, Agrotourism, History, Lodging, Weddings and Events, Burlington on a Budget, and MUCH MORE!

We are also in need of photos for the Chamber area of the site. If you  have high-res photos of your employees hard at work, your business in action, or photos that help tell the story of doing business in Vermont – please send them along to us!  In addition, we are sourcing photos for our affiliate sites: Vermont Convention Bureau, Vermont Council on World Affairs, Burlington Young Professionals, and Education Vermont USA. If you are interested in hearing the photo needs for these sites, please just contact us.

HOW TO SUBMIT PHOTOS:

Please note any photos that have restrictions on them, i.e. if the photo must be purchased, if it cannot be used in print, if it cannot be used online, etc. We will assume that any photo submitted without restrictions is free for our use in both print and online.

Please note that we are a non-profit business organization so while we do have a budget for photography for vermont.org it must be stretched. If a photo is for sale, please note whether we could have exclusive rights to the photo with a certain cost.

Photos should be sent to Sarah@vermont.org with the subject line – PHOTO SUBMISSION.

***You do not need to be a professional photographer to submit photography. Businesses can also submit photos that they own. Only requirement is that all proper permissions for print and web use are available.
