Island Corner: Summer in the Islands

Summer is a great time to experience a day in the Islands! Start your day by biking across the causeway, take the Bike Ferry and ride along West Shore Road. Paddle the Inland Sea from North Hero, or swim at Alburgh Dunes and cap off your adventure with a leisurely lakeside dinner.

Take a Seat in the Islands features seventeen hand-made benches painted by local artists on display throughout the Islands. See one at East Shore Vineyard’s Tasting Room on Church Street, grab a map and head up to the Islands to see the rest of them. The display ends with a Live Auction on August 16 at the North Hero Community Hall. It’s free with cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. Help us send our benches to good homes.

Other activities to lure you to the Islands: Automobiles in Knight Point State Park Car Show on July 13 offers lots of cars, trucks and motorcycles to view, along with swimming, food vendors and flea market. Open Farm and Studio Weekend is on both July 13 and 14. Over 40 farms, artist studios and other venues are open for you to wander. Look for the red balloons. On Sunday sample local foods at the Taste of the Islands at Grand Isle Art Works. We’re closer than you think!
