Running

If you're looking for a great place to run, Vermont has plenty of fresh air and stunning terrain to offer. Burlington's Burlington Bike path is a must-visit spot where you can watch ferry boats cross the steely blue Lake Champlain, set against the backdrop of the million-acre Adirondack Park. Swap pavement fRunningor dirt and gravel at the forested Red Rocks Park, where you'll find gentle climbs and descents, beach vistas, and cliff lookouts. Casavant Nature Trail in Winooski is a quick and gentle 3.2 km loop along the Winooski River, perfect for a leisurely jog.

If you're up for a challenge, take on the mountain loop up Vermont's third highest peak, Camel's Hump, a favorite among ultrarunners. And if you're looking for company or motivation, check out the weekly runs organized by Burlington's various outdoor stores, Green Mountain Athletic Association's weekly runs and workouts during marathon season, or meet up with the Long Trail Running Club. Shelburne Farms is another great option, offering gravel roads, single and double track trails, surprises around every corner on this 1400-acre National Historic Landmark and working farm on the shores of Lake Champlain.
